Scaled Back Simplicity

Step back, slow down and do one thing at a time.

This is the season we are expected to rush around, stay up late, work all weekend and attend every holiday event offered.

Then come January, we have to recover and try to regroup and evaluate what we really want for the coming year.

As I do research for my business Lunch and Learns, I came across the word: Monotasking. It is now my new favorite word!

Research at the University of Utah discovered that those who deemed themselves the best multitaskers were the least effective.

Maybe I am not as efficient as I believe.

I am practicing monotasking with mindfulness. I think they are best friends! I can pause, be fully present in the moment without judgement and do the task, project, conversation from beginning to end.

My mind does not have to shift, my energy is focused, I am fully connected with the moment, and my heart is at peace. I find this to be epic in this season of the year. I want to enjoy every moment and fully receive the gifts of the season: people, decorations, food, music, nature and most of all the Author and Finisher of my faith.

A heart at peace gives life to the body.
