Power Down

“Go ahead and power down your computer”, I was told.

My frustration was building as I worked, due to technical issues with my computer. It was slow, unresponsive and losing connection.

I was talking to my sister about our season of life. She said, “Maybe it’s time to give ourselves permission to rest?”

I read about Jesus getting in a boat with his disciple so they could cross the sea and rest.

All these messages came to me one by one, back to back, in a span of 2 days. I have learned to pay attention to the subtle words of wisdom in life. I love how the treasures of living are right at our fingertips. As I open my eyes, physically and intuitively, I begin to pick up those treasures and wear them with joy knowing I am shining a light for my own health and for the health and well-being of others.

I decided to “power down” for 24 hours. I cleared my schedule. I unplugged from all technology. I let go of my expectations and allowed myself to sleep, take walks, read, dream, journal and live in the moment. I took note of my feelings and was able to live spontaneously. It was time to be with me. I noticed how easy it was to energetically connect with others and leave only a smidgen of energy to connect with myself.

The power down has become my new cue to “reboot” my relationship with myself. The reward?

A life in sync, responsive and connected, wearing treasures that bless our world.

There comes a time in every life when the world gets quiet and the only thing left is your own heart. ---Sarah Dessen, Just Listen
