SUMMERTIME FUN

It’s summertime! Jump in and soak up the sun. Slow down, take a sip of fresh iced tea, grab a book and relax.

The month of June ushers in a new season. The winter is past, the Fall is in the future. I decided to stop, take note of the change of season and think of ways I want to embrace this summer.

I do not want the summer to fly by and look back wishing I had done things differently.

I pulled out a novel I started at Christmas! Every day, I read for fun, even if it is only for 10 minutes. I sat on my front porch with sparkling water and did my calendar planning. I noticed the greenery and blooming flowers in my neighborhood. I blocked a week off in July to allow my mind and body to refresh and rest. I let my mind dream a bit. I made a mental list of all I was thankful for.

I have always loved the summer. As a young girl, we would sleep outside on the trampoline, fill our pool, eat meals on our back patio and ride horses all day. We would play.

It is time to give myself permission to play and return to some of the “traditions” of summer. I can allow some time to be unscheduled, adding spontaneity in the day.

Even as I continue to work, I can immerse myself in the fullness of summertime, look up at the sun, and enjoy the beauty and allow the warmth to bring comfort to my heart and soul.

Rise up my darling, the winter is past, the rains are over and gone, the flowers are springing up, the season of singing birds has come. Songs of Songs 2:10-13
