Professional Gratitude

There is power in gratitude. I have a wall-hanging in my house that says:

It’s not happy people who are thankful;

It’s thankful people who are happy.

I have personally experienced the powerful benefits of gratitude practices in my personal life and professional life.

How does it work in the professional world? Corporate America?

True story shared with me this week from the employee:

Corporate employee decided to send a hand-written thank you card to a client who did an outstanding job on a project they were both involved in. The client was amazed to receive the card and showed her boss. Her boss then acknowledged the job she had done and she was given a special award from her company. Her boss called the corporate president to thank him for the card and he then gave a bonus to his employee who originally sent the card.

One hand-written thankyou card. Mailed. It paid itself forward.

One of my clients was struggling with an employee’s negative attitude and decided to write an encouraging card of affirmation. It changed the flow in the relationship. Immediately.

Research shows that if we receive two negative comments and three positive comments about ourselves, we will automatically think more on the negative.

I want to send the positive in abundance and saturate the corporate world with gratitude and watch it pay itself forward. That would make me happy!

By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually.
