Clean and Clear

I have received numerous emails welcoming in the New Year, how to set new goals, resolutions and intentions. My inbox is full of ways to make this year different and productive while remaining constantly inspired and successful, personally and professionally.

I find myself somewhat overwhelmed and resistant to the pressure to do all the goals and missions, stick to it and to produce….

Where is my motivation and true heartfelt inspiration?

Then…I learned about the CLEARING exercise. I simply list what I don’t want in 2017. What do I want to stop doing this year or step away from? What does not serve me well anymore? This could apply to attitudes, behaviors, emotional patterns or it could be an organization I am a part of, a weekly commitment that gets me nowhere, a toxic relationship. I let my mind and heart go anywhere with this exercise. There was no right or wrong response.

After I made the list, I gave myself permission to let go of the “clutter” in my life and give myself a clean foundation to build upon for this bright new year! Motivation and freedom followed.

This process reminded me of all the moves I have made in the past 6 years. I began each move with a plan to clean out my closets, drawers, attic, refrigerator, garage, a long list. Then I packed up and made sure the new house was clean and clear before I set up my next home plan. It felt fresh and revitalizing to know I had let go of useless items that weighed me down. I may have needed them during one season of life, but now I was entering a new season and the simplicity served my purpose.

I love this quote: “When you know what you don’t want you know what you do want.”

And now… I am excited to explore: What do I want more of? This keeps it positive. I let myself marinate on that for a bit and my 2017 goals and intentions will follow with my spirit, soul and body connected and at peace.

In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths.
